The Mellon Country Inn, near Omagh, confirmed the closure in an emotional social media post thanking guests, staff and supporters who had been part of the hotel’s journey over the years.

The family-run three-star hotel, owned by the Irish-American Mahoney family since March 2017, had reopened following a major refurbishment and became a popular venue for overnight stays, meals, weddings, functions and events.

In a heartfelt social media post, the family thanked customers, staff and supporters who had been part of the venue’s journey over the years.

“As we close the doors for the final time, we want to say thank you,” the statement read.

“To every guest who walked through our doors, attended an event, stayed the night, enjoyed a meal, celebrated special moments, or stopped by for a chat — thank you for being part of The Mellon Country Inn’s story.”

The hotel described itself as more than just a hospitality venue, reflecting on the memories, friendships and celebrations created there over the years.

“Over the years, this place became more than just a hotel. It became a place filled with memories, friendships, laughter, and celebrations,” the post continued.

“There were stressful moments, plenty of laughs, and enough trips up and down the stairs to count as a full-time gym membership.”

They also paid tribute to its staff, both past and present, for their contribution and dedication.

“To our incredible staff, past and present, thank you for the hard work, dedication, and heart you brought every single day. None of this would have been possible without the amazing people behind the scenes.”

While confirming the closure, the statement also hinted at possible future plans.

“While it’s emotional to say goodbye to such a special chapter, we’re proud of everything this team created together and grateful to every single person who supported us along the way.

“So… what comes next?”

The venue has asked anyone with unclaimed gift vouchers to contact the business by email with their details.
