Lurgan: planning permission for 14 new homes with buffer planting along site border

Planning permission has been granted for the erection of 14 dwellings with garages on a site between Woodford Park, Rosewood Park and Cherryville Park, Lurgan.

The application was lodged by Robert Bleakney Architects Ltd, Moira, on behalf of JMG Development NI Ltd, Lisburn.

Six dwellings will be two-storey detached houses with four bedrooms each, with three different designs proposed, while an additional eight semi-detached dwellings will be 1.5-storey units, each with two bedrooms. Five garages are also proposed on the site.

The developer had previously envisaged to build 14 semi-detached dwellings, each with three bedrooms.

ABC Planning officers noted in their report: “The site proposes to use an access onto Cherryville Park, which extends onto Upper Toberhewny Lane.

“Officers, in consultation with DFI Roads, are content that it has been demonstrated that junction improvements will not be required for this proposal, and the application can proceed without the requirement for the Toberhewny Lane/Gilford Road junction to be upgraded.

“The proposed properties have parking along the side elevations (apart front plots 21 and 22 where parking is located exclusively to the front of these dwellings), with garden areas and planting proposed to the front and rear of the dwellings.

“Landscaping proposals have been submitted and will include buffer planting along the boundary of the site, which entails small tree and shrub planting, along with the planting of 20 trees throughout the development and within the public amenity area located to the site’s entrance.

“Officers can confirm the car-parking spaces and visitor parking spaces are evenly distributed throughout the development, and DfI Roads raised no objections to the proposed parking arrangements.”
