Major R&D investment brings 17 jobs at Kainos

Leading NI tech firm Kainos is to create 17 new jobs with a multi-million pound R&D investment to develop new software transforming the delivery of healthcare through the use of mobile technology.

Supported by Invest NI, the Belfast based provider of digital services and platforms, also aims to expand on its existing global success.

“Kainos has an excellent reputation as a leader in electronic medical records management,” said Alastair Hamilton, CEO of Invest NI which is offering £3.1 million.

Making the announcement, Invest NI CEO Alastair Hamilton said: “It has long recognised the value of investing in R&D to stay ahead of its competitors and has already used Invest NI’s support to develop highly innovative software that transforms the way our healthcare system operates.”

In addition to the new posts, the firm will also use the investment to bolster existing skills and talent development across its workforce.

It is also using Invest NI’s marketing assistance to support a global sales drive, particularly in the US.

“This is a very positive announcement for the ICT sector in Northern Ireland, both for driving economic growth and fostering development of skills that will provide an important boost to the local NI talent pool,” added Mr Hamilton.

Kainos CEO Brendan Mooney said the new system offered exciting benefits and paid tribute to Invest NI’s ongoing support.

“Our Evolve Integrated Care software will allow healthcare professionals to access, amend and store patient information as they undertake their work, all with the required degree of security to protect patient confidentiality.

“We have a partnership agreement with Apple which will ensure our software can be used on iPhones and iPads, making our service much more efficient.
