Markethill Mart: Heavy hoggets sold from £85 to £92 each

An entry of 1,700 sheep in Markethill on Wednesday 8th March sold in a slightly easier trade for hoggets.

Cull ewe trade was firmer and breeding sheep were in very good demand.

1,280 hoggets had a complete clearance although were reduced.

Heavy hoggets sold from £85 to £92 each and up to 364p/k for 24.6k at £89.50.

All good quality pens sold from 345p/k to 362p/k.

Middleweight hoggets sold from 350p/k to 377p/k for 23.5k at £88.50 each.

A small turnout of stores sold to 376p/k for 17.4k at £65.50.

Several more pens from 350p/k to 369p/k

170 cull ewes sold in a firmer trade to a top of £111 with several pens from £84 to £109 each.

Second quality ewes from £60 to £80 each.

A large entry of ewes and lambs sold in a very firm trade with good quality doubles to a top of £235 with several more good quality outfits from £190 to £232.

Singles to a top of £160 with main demand from £130 to £158 each.
