MEP visits Redrock Machinery

The visit, which included a factory tour, provided Mr Nicholson with an opportunity to discuss the current market trends impacting on all of the farming sectors across Europe and the opportunities for the EU to assist businesses like Redrock Machinery.

“I was delighted to come along as a guest of the Redrock management team,” he said.

“The company must be congratulated for the employment it is creating in the Armagh area and its continuing success in securing markets throughout Europe and beyond.

“There is no denying the fact that agriculture throughout the EU is under severe economic pressure at the present time. Hopefully, circumstances will change for the better over the coming months.

“But, despite the current downturn in agriculture, there are significant opportunities for companies, such as Redrock to avail of. Improving on-farm environmental standards is a key requirement for farmers in many parts of Eastern Europe. This, in turn, should lead to an increased demand for high quality slurry equipment.”

Nicholson continued: “I listened intently to what the team at Redrock had to say about the support role which the EU could play in the development of their business.

“I fully intend taking these matters up at the highest level in Brussels.”

Redrock managing director Frank Flynn thanked Mr Nicholson for taking time out of a busy schedule to visit the company’s premises.

“It was very useful to get his perspective on the prospects for agriculture moving forward and the role which the EU can play in supporting the growth of companies like Redrock Machinery,” he said.

“International markets are extremely challenging at the present time. However, our focus remains on bringing a range of innovative products to market, which will help drive efficiency levels for both farmers and contractors.”
