New Belfast cruise facility and 13-storey aparthotel among schemes given green light

Belfast City Council’s Planning Committee has approved a raft of proposals spanning the city’s cruise infrastructure, accommodation and community sports facilities

A new cruise facility, a 13-storey aparthotel and major upgrades to a Belfast sports pitch are among a number of schemes given the green light by Belfast City Council.

The council’s Planning Committee approved an amended application for a new multi-purpose cruise berthing facility at Airport Road West in the Harbour Estate.

The Belfast Harbour Commissioners proposal includes the relocation and extension of the main cruise terminal, a new baggage building and a range of associated works including lighting, landscaping and infrastructure.

The committee also approved plans by Andras House to transform 29-33 Bedford Street.

The scheme will see the existing four-storey terrace refurbished and extended to the rear, alongside the construction of a new 13-storey aparthotel.

Meanwhile, Hammer Playing Pitch has also been given the go-ahead for a series of upgrades.

The works will include resurfacing and a minor extension to the existing 3G pitch, new floodlighting, a 50-seat covered stand, additional fencing and replacement dugouts.

The latest approvals come as Belfast continues to attract major investment across its tourism, accommodation and community facilities.
