New sponsor SONI powers up to the Armagh County Show

SONI (System Operator for Northern Ireland) is delighted to announce its sponsorship of the upcoming Armagh County Agricultural Show (Saturday, 11th June).

SONI runs and develops the high voltage electricity grid and is supporting several classes from beef and dairy, sheep and pigs, to the Best Dressed Lady and Gent!

The sponsorship announcement comes as SONI strives to build an understanding of the work it undertakes in keeping the lights on 24/7 and also in developing Northern Ireland’s grid to support growth in the economy, through projects like the proposed North South Interconnector.

Working in partnership with the agricultural community is at the heart of SONI’s grid development work as Fergal Keenan, the company’s Agricultural Liaison Officer explains: “We are excited to be part of this year’s Armagh County Agricultural Show. For us it is about giving a little bit back to the farmers who we work with day-in-day-out.

“Projects like the North South Interconnector are vital, but we couldn’t progress them without the support of the farming and agricultural community. By taking part in the Armagh County Agricultural Show; by sponsoring classes right across the sector we hope that we can help support farmers and their equally vital industry.

“Our new outreach mobile will be at the show. We hope that anyone with concerns about the North South Interconnector, or any of our other projects, will drop by. We are here to listen and to answer your questions.”

Steven Hamilton, Chairman of Armagh County Agricultural Show is pleased to be welcoming the new sponsor: “We are pleased to have SONI onboard as a new key partner to the show. We hope that we can help the agricultural and local community to better understand what SONI does and encourage anyone with questions or concerns about any of SONI’s projects to meet the team at the show. This initiative is about supporting dialogue and building relationships and that can only be a good thing.”
