Northern Ireland shopping centre makes own honey from its rooftop..'Our bees have been busy and it's available to purchase'
Lesley Bloomfield shopping centre has unveiled its own honey brand after installing beehives on the roof — and jars of the locally produced honey are now on sale to the public
Northern Ireland shopping centre has found an unexpected — and environmentally friendly — way to raise money.
Lesley Bloomfield in Bangor has revealed that it is now producing its own honey, harvested from beehives installed on the centre’s rooftop.
The initiative was highlighted in a recent social media post, where the centre introduced its aptly named Bloomfield Bees.
According to the post, the hives have been thriving under the care of local beekeeper Ernie, who oversees the rooftop apiary and ensures the bees are well looked after throughout the year.
The result is a supply of pure, locally produced honey now being made available to the public.
“Our Bloomfield Bees have been busy and our HONEY is available to purchase!” the centre announced. “Our bee hives are located on the roof of Lesley Bloomfield and thanks to the hard work of our beekeeper Ernie they produce delicious pure honey!

"If you would like to purchase some please send us a message. It is £7 a jar.”
The Bloomfield Bees project is set to create a buzz among both shoppers and local nature enthusiasts — proving that sometimes the sweetest ideas come from thinking above the shops.
