With social distancing set to be a key focus for the safety of customers and staff in bars, hotels and restaurants, the B-Express app can support government guidelines by enabling people to remain at their table to order and pay for food and drink, avoiding congested bar serving areas where human contact and spacing is reduced.

Through the process of instant online payment, staff and customers will also avoid unnecessary handling of cash and touching of payment points.

The app also caters for click and collect outlets which produce takeaway goods and through its wireless functionality supports venues which will operate in outside areas including beer gardens and pop up bars.

B-Express was founded by Glens of Antrim native Eunan McKillop with the app’s functionality and performance tested over the last two years, taking drinks payments in busy bars and outdoor events, with positive endorsements from across the sector.

The app was initially envisaged as a means of pre-ordering drinks to avoid queues at large public gatherings including concerts, however, since the onset of Covid-19 has been repurposed and expanded to support the hospitality sector and government social distancing guidance.

With lockdown restrictions already lifted within the retail sector and expected to be lifted soon within the hospitality industry, Eunan highlighted that the launch of the B-Express App will be an “innovative tech solution to enable swift orders and transaction processing”.

He said: “With social distancing set to be a central feature within the hospitality sector for some time, our locally developed app can help venues adhere to regulations, keep their customers safe and ensure efficient order and payment for food and drink, right from the comfort of their table or designated area.

“We have seen how bars and pubs are preparing for the reopening of their venues in July and we are confident that our app will provide an innovative tech solution to enable swift orders and transaction processing.”

Eunan, from Cushendall, added: “Bar serving areas are traditionally the busiest point of any establishment and by utilising our app, businesses can move that congestion from physical to virtual seamlessly and effectively.

“I would encourage any bar, pub or restaurant business to check out the app and see how we can cost effectively support your business in the coming months.
