The collaboration will run across 12 Ground Espresso Bars locations throughout Northern Ireland, bringing together two home-grown brands with a shared ambition to encourage positive choices for the future.

The initiative will use interactive storybooks, colourful Weatherbies characters, competitions and prizes to introduce children and families to topics including climate change, recycling and the importance of looking after the environment.

For Ground Espresso Bars, the campaign forms part of its wider commitment to sustainability and supporting the communities in which it operates.

The coffee chain already operates a number of environmental initiatives across its stores, including a coffee grounds scheme which allows customers to take used coffee grounds free of charge for use as nutrient-rich compost in their gardens.

Customers can also receive 50p off their drink when they bring their own reusable cup, helping to reduce waste from takeaway containers.

Darren Gardiner of Ground Espresso Bars said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be collaborating with The Weatherbies and helping to bring their books and characters to more families across Northern Ireland.

“Ground has always been about much more than great coffee. Our stores are part of the communities we serve, and we love being involved in initiatives that can have a positive impact, particularly when they engage and educate children in such a fun and accessible way.

“The Weatherbies is a fantastic local brand, and we really admire the creativity behind the characters and the way important messages such as recycling and looking after our environment are introduced to young children.”

Yvonne Fleming of The Weatherbies added: I’m delighted to be partnering up with Ground Espresso Bars for this collaboration. Ground Espresso Bars eco values are aligned with the Weatherbies, so it was a natural fit for us to work together. We collectively aim to inspire others across all age groups to do their bit to create a better environment too. We hope to see you all in Ground Espresso Bar’s across Northern Ireland for the next two weeks, taking part in our competitions and enjoying our stories and fun characters.”
