Over 1200 lots go under the hammer at Ballymena

On Saturday 23rd April, Ballymena Livestock Markets' Machinery Sale was held at the market yard premises on the Woodside Road.

A terrific entry of over 1200 lots were presented from small inside items to bigger machinery.

Over the week leading up to the sale, men came from far and wide to enter lots and on the day buyers came from all across Ireland to purchase.

The sale kicked off at 9.30am with the tyres, selling to £390 for a pair of 13.6 x38 rims and tyres, other lots sold to £200 for a set of duals with clamps, £155 for set of two tyres (340/85 r24), £145 set of two rear tractor tyres (18.4 r38, Uniroyal).

Outside and inside sales followed on at 10.30am. As the day went on and the weather got better, the crowd grew and so did the bidding.

With four auctioneers all selling at one time the trade was flying.

Tractors sold to £5500 for a Ford 6600, £3550 for a Ford 3910 and £3250 for a Massey 698, to state only a few.

Outside machinery sold to £4500 for a WAM 24ft Bale Trailer, some other leading outside prices as follow; £2500 for an Ifor Williams 14ft Cattle trailer, £2300 for a Tarrup 10x Harvester, £1980 for a 12x6 Ifor Williams Cattle Trailer, £1900 for a Ritchie Sheep Race with Combi Clamp, £1875 for a Galvanised Cattle Weigh Crush, £1700 for a Kverneland 9ft Mower Conditioner, £1500 for a 1360 John Deere Mower.

Inside items also sold at a great trade with lots reaching £300 for a selection of Plough Points, £250 for a Saw Bench, £200 for a Magnetic Drill, £200 for a Raleigh 17” Rotavator, £165 for a Large Anvil, £150 for a Sealey Welder Super 180, £198 for Hudson Trailer Ramps, £130 for a Vibrating plate.

The next machinery sale will be held on Saturday 11th June. Items can be left in the yard the week prior to the sale.
