The Gallaher Trust” will continue to support the local community with a focus on job creation and skills development in Ballymena and supporting disadvantaged adults in the local area.

“We are delighted the Trust has been named after Gallaher, a business founded in Northern Ireland in 1857, which has played such an important role in our local community for the past 75 years,” said Mr Paisley.

“We plan to use its inspiration to provide long-term support to organisations and charitable and not for profit enterprises for the benefit of the people of Ballymena.”

Work to create the Trust is on-going and involves an application to the Charities Commission.

Once fully established, it will provide further details on how it will work within the local community and hopes to attract up to three further trustees to assist in its work.

“Joining the Board offers a great opportunity to make a difference in our local community by ensuring this legacy has maximum impact,” said director of operations for the trust, Greg McKinley.
