The centre is one of 7 across Northern Ireland to benefit from a Sysco donation of over 500 boxes filled with food staples, treats and recipe boxes delivered in collaboration with Meals & More and its delivery partners, Children in Northern Ireland, to help families in need this November. In addition Sysco delivered 400 boxes to 6 charities – from foodbanks to homeless services.

“Patrician Youth Centre were delighted to receive 100 food boxes from Sysco. These boxes will be distributed to children and families in our local community. As we work closely with young people and continue our efforts to address the cost-of-living crisis and food poverty, partnerships with Meals & More and Sysco make a real difference. These meal boxes will offer meaningful support to local families.” said Yvonne Maguire, Senior Youth Worker, Patrician Youth Centre.

The activity is part of Sysco’s wider Purpose Month initiative, which will see Sysco teams across Belfast, Dublin, Cork, and Limerick pack and deliver over 3,500 food boxes to 42 employee-nominated charities, including The Simon Community, SVP, food banks, Family Resource Centres, and other community organisations across Ireland.

Globally, Sysco is working towards 35,000 volunteer hours as part of part of the Purpose Month initiative, advancing its purpose of Connecting the World to Share Food and Care for One Another. In Northern Ireland, Sysco is taking a leading role in fighting food poverty through its ongoing partnership with Meals & More, which includes an annual £50,000 commitment to provide over 14,000 meals to children attending five holiday clubs, supporting the charity’s work in tackling food poverty and social isolation among school-aged children. As part of this funding Meals and More and Sysco aim to expand the current footprint in Northern Ireland in 2026, helping more children and families across the province.
