SSE Airtricity drives Belfast Health Trust towards a greener future

The Trust has taken delivery of three new Nissan e-NV200 vans supplied by leading energy supplier SSE Airtricity which will bring the Trust’s fleet of Electric Vehicles (EVs) to 11.

The EVs have been supplied as part of the landmark energy supply contract announced last year, which saw SSE Airtricity appointed as the key greener energy provider to a number of Northern Ireland’s Health & Social Care Trusts and other HSC organisations.

SSE Airtricity, the region’s largest provider of wind power and second largest energy provider, now supplies ‘dual fuel’ natural gas and 100 per cent renewable electricity to the Belfast, Western, South Eastern and Northern Trusts.

The Nissan e-NV200 vans can travel 106 miles on a full charge, and can reach full power in just 30 minutes from a rapid charge point. The electricity provided at the charge points also comes from renewable sources.

David O’Byrne, SSE Airtricity Industrial and Commercial Sales Manager said: “We’re delighted to deliver these all-electric, zero-emission vans to the Belfast Health & Social Care Trusts and other Trusts across the region. The electricity supplied to the Trust by SSE Airtricity is already 100 per cent renewable, and the provision of these new electric vehicles will further add to the reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. Importantly, it will also help reduce their transport costs by cutting fuel consumption”.
