'The journey to the Games is the moment it all starts to feel real': Team Northern Ireland sets sail for glory with Stena Line
Ferry company transporting local athletes to Commonwealth Games
Stena Line is backing Northern Ireland’s athletes to go far at this year’s Commonwealth Games.

As an official partner of Team NI, Stena Line will provide travel for approximately 110 athletes and staff, who will be travelling by coach to join the hundreds of thousands of visitors expected to attend this year’s Games in Glasgow.
Athletes can look forward to travelling in style with access to the exclusive Stena Plus Lounge or the cosy comfort of the Hygge Lounge. And after giving it their all in competition, they can unwind on the journey home with a visit to the Pure Nordic Spa.
Orla Noonan, travel commercial manager (Irish Sea) said: “For many athletes, the journey to the Games is the moment it all starts to feel real. We’re proud to help Team NI begin that journey in the best possible way, arriving in Glasgow ready to compete.
“We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for a huge haul of medals on the journey home.”
Conall Heatley, chief executive of Commonwealth Games Northern Ireland, added: “Our ‘one community, one team’ ethos is at the heart of everything we do. This partnership supports our athletes and the wider community that stands behind them.
“With a strong focus on people, standards and values, we are proud to work with Stena Line who share our commitment to helping Team NI perform at their very best on the international stage.”
From spacious seating to great on-board facilities, Team NI’s athletes can look forward to a smooth crossing as they set their sights on sporting success.
And with no luggage limit for passengers on board, there will be plenty of room for athletes to bring everything they need to be ready at the starting line.
