Weanling calves to £1110 at Rathfriland Co-Op

An exceptionally dear sale on Friday saw weanling calves sell to £1,110, £1,100 and £1,000 from an Upperbrackney farmer.

This pen of five animals averaged £1,030 at 11 months of age.

Lighter weanlings cleared up to 274p/k.

There were more store heifers offered for sale with the top 10 heifers selling from £1,005 to £1,200.

Heifer prices were the dearest for several weeks.

Ch bullocks cleared up to £1,205 with the top 10 lots ranging from £1,040 to £1,205.

Fat cows sold to £990 for a 728k Ch from Castlewellan with suckler stock to £1150 from Cabra.

Dropped calves sold to £500 (twice) for Blue and Lim bulls from Donaghmore. A pen of eight Lim heifer calves from Hillsborough sold at £365 etc.

230 fat ewes sold to £95 per head with fewer choice ewes in entry.
