Weanlings sell to £1015 at Rathfriland

Another 300 head saw over 100 weanlings sell to £1015 for 490k Angus from Glenloughlin.

There were some very high prices for weanlings especially stronger lots. Quite a few weanling bullocks sold at over £800 per head. A special entry of Blue grey weanling heifers sold to £675 per head. A Crossmaglen farmer sold weanling heifers to £650. Store heifers sold to £1065 for 548k Lim from a Drumneagh farmer. A Dysart farmer sold Lim heifers to £1020 and £1005. In the bullock section, £1160 was obtained by a Katesbridge farmer for 686k Hereford. Ch bullocks to £1050 for an OTM lot from Derryneil. Fr bullocks were a great trade to £920 for 640k with other lots to £865. A larger entry of fat cows sold to £890 for 730k, £845 for 648k, £770 for 690k, and £635 for 548k etc. Dropped calves sold to £320 and £315 for Sim bulls and £320 for Her bulls, Blue bulls to £305 and AA bulls to £300.

A similar trade to previous weeks was seen on Tuesday evening with a top of £87 for a farmer from Ballynahinch. Ardaragh farmer 30k @ £85. Ballyveamore farmer 28k @ £85. Kilkeel farmer £85 for 25k. Dromore farmer 26.5k @ £84.50. Castlewellan farmer 28.5k @ £84. Leitrim farmer 27k @ £83. Ardglass farmer 27k @ £83. Altnadue farmer 16k @ £60.50.
