Winning London Jerk Platter rich in flavours from Newtownards
Sides restaurant network triumphs at first-ever Fried Chicken Championships in London with uniquely flavoured sauce produced by Co Down’s Rich Sauces
A ‘London Jerk Platter’ from Sides, a restaurant network in Britain, featuring a uniquely flavoured sauce from Newtownards, Co Down won the Perfect Platter Award at the recent first-ever Fried Chicken Championships in London.
Sides, which has Caribbean-style chicken restaurants in London and Manchester, partnered with Rich Sauces, one of the UK’s leading producers of a wide range of sauces for catering and retail on the unique platter.

Founder Trevor Kells and his parents developed a unique mayonnaise over 35 years ago in Belfast. This luxurious mayonnaise, the ingredients of which remain the same to this day, forms part of the company’s tasty heritage, that has helped to establish Rich Sauces as a trusted name in the global foodservice industry.
London restaurant operator 20Ft Fried Chicken has won the first-ever Fried Chicken Championships, after battling it out at a live final against 14 other hospitality outfits.
It was 20Ft’s Hot Chicken Burger that wowed the judges on the day, made with double-cooked chicken thighs, spice seasoning, vinegar slaw, habanero honey mayo, pickles, signature hot sauce and a soft sesame bun.
It has been a huge 12 months for founder Stewart Down, as 20Ft Fried Chicken is the sister brand to Black Bear Burger, which won the 2025 National Burger Awards.
