Over the summer members have continued to strive in competitions, while finishing off the programme with a trip to Emerald Park to enjoy the many fun activities.

Throughout summer, some of our members completed their Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards. The teams hiked across the Mourne Mountains and successfully completed their expeditions, congratulations, a great achievement.

Meanwhile, members Anna and Jack McCready travelled to Buckingham Palace in order to receive their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards from HRH Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh - what an experience.

Both Anna and Jack completed their Duke of Edinburgh through the YFCU which is a great experience for members and is highly encouraged.

Club secretary, Rebecca Cromie also had some travelling and ventured over to Scotland to take part in the YFCU Scottish exchange along with Collone YFC member Karen Walker.

Rebecca had a great time exploring Edinburgh’s landmarks and ended her trip with a few days at the Royal Highland Show.

Well done to Jasmine Foot and Catherine Hanna who both placed in the sheep judging competition and proceeded into the finals.

Congratulations to Jasmine on being placed third in her respective age group in the finals. Also, well done to our Build It team, consisting of Colin McMinn, Rebecca Cromie, Neil McMinn, Ella McAllister and Will Cromie on being placed second with their plant pot – a great job.

Rathfriland YFC held their annual treasure hunt and barbecue in July where all proceedings were going towards Cancer Research in memory of a valued friend of the club, Mrs Mae Ingram. The club are proud to announce that they have raised £655.21 to date. Thank you to everyone who attended the event.
