St Francis’ PS Lurgan revealed this afternoon that pupils and staff are to isolate during the Christmas holidays.

In a statement on Facebook, the school shared a post from Our Lady’s Grammar School in Newry which has had an outbreak of COVID-19 and a number of pupils isolating over Christmas

It said: “Today, unfortunately, we had to do the same. 18 pupils and 2 staff members isolating right through Christmas.

“I firmly believe this to be a direct result of quarantine changing from 10 days from the safer option of 14.

“I feel for the parents explaining this to the little children and to the grandparents who are set to miss out on a special day (especially after the year that has been).

“Real hurt and sadness for all concerned.”
