New archdeacons appointed in Down and Dromore Church of Ireland

​​Down and Dromore Church of Ireland bishop the Rev David McClay has appointed two new archdeacons - Canon Mark Harvey, rector of Shankill church, Lurgan, for the Dromore end of the diocese, and the Rev Jim Cheshire, rector of Ballybeen church, Belfast for Down congregations.

​The role of an archdeacon is demanding as they aid and assist the bishop in his pastoral care and office. Both archdeacons will be released from parish ministry for two days each week to carry out diocesan work.
