Paris Hilton urges Northern Ireland Assembly to pass Harry's Law to protect children from unregulated restraint at school

US celebrity and model, Paris Hilton, has urged the Northern Ireland Assembly to pass legislation to protect children from unregulated and undocumented restraint at school.

Co. Tyrone mother, Deidre Shakespeare, has been leading the campaign for Harry's Law to be adopted in Northern Ireland.

Ms. Shakespeare set out to legislate for unregulated restraint being used in school settings in Northern Ireland after her nine year-old son Harry, who is autistic, was strapped to chair while at school.

A tearful Ms. Shakespeare give evidence to the Stormont Education Committee on Wednesday morning during which she recounted how her son Harry was affected when he was restrained while at school.

Ms. Shakespeare's evidence was described by Sinn Fein MLA and Education Committee member, Pat Sheehan, as "extremely harrowing".
