All 16 Covid related deaths in last 24 hours were aged 80 or older

Thirteen females and three males aged 80 or older have been recorded as Covid-19 related in the last 24 hours.

Twelve of the 16 passed away in the last 24 hours but remaining four individuals died outside of the 24 hour time frame but were recorded for the first time in the 24 hours to 10.00am on Tuesday morning.

The 16 deaths occurred in the following local government districts: Belfast (two); Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon (three); Lisburn and Castlereagh (three); Mid and East Antrim (three); Newry, Mourne and Down (one); Ards (one); Fermanagh (one) and unknown (two).

It takes the Covid-19 death toll in Northern Ireland to 1,219.

The data, which was published by the Department of Health (DoH) on Tuesday afternoon, also showed 439 new infections were detected in Northern Ireland in the last 24 hours.

It means 3,847 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last seven days and 62,936 have tested positive for the virus since the beginning of the pandemic.
