COVID-19 deaths - Italy overtakes China for most deaths

More people have now died in Italy after testing positive for COVID-19 than in China.

China, more precisely Wuhan, is regarded as the point of origin for Coronavirus COVID-19 and up until Thursday evening had recorded the most number of deaths - 3,245.

However, crisis struck Italy recorded a further 427 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total number of deaths there to 3,405.

China has recorded over 80,000 confirmed cases since the outbreak started in December 2019.

Italy has recorded just over half the number of cases of China and now worryingly, more deaths.

China appears to bringing the virus under control with 34 news and eight deaths in the last 24 hours.

The total number of confirmed cases in the UK is 2,692 and 137 deaths.
