Eight additional Covid-19 related deaths in last 24 hours - 822 new infections detected - Ulster Hospital only hospital in NI without ICU beds

Six of the deceased were male and three female.

Three of those who died were 80 years-old or more and the five other people were aged between 60 and 79 years-old.

All eight deaths occurred in hospitals in the following local government districts: Belfast City Council (one); Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (two); Lisburn and Castlereagh (three); Newry Mourne and Down (one) and Mid Ulster (one).

It takes the overall death-toll to 688 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The DoH also recorded a further 822 new infections in the last 24 hours taking the total number of people to test positive for Covid-19 in the last seven days to 5,947.

There are more ICU beds available today than yesterday - of the 110 ICU beds in Northern Ireland, 19 are unoccupied.

There are currently 44 Covid-19 patients in ICUs across Northern Ireland.

The Ulster Hospital is the only hospital in Northern Ireland without any unoccupied ICU beds.

There are also 39 Covid-19 patients currently on ventilators.

The number of inpatients with Covid-19 in Northern Ireland has risen by nine to 361 in the last 24 hours.
