The Department of Health (DoH) recorded five additional Covid-19 related deaths and 281 new infections in the last 24 hours.

It takes the death-toll in Northern Ireland since the beginning of the pandemic to 2,048.

The five deaths occurred in the following local council areas: Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (two); Mid Ulster (two) and Derry City and Strabane District (one).

Three of the deceased were female and two were male.

Those to sadly pass away included one individual aged between 40 and 59; two aged between 60 and 79 and two aged 80 older.

Four of the deaths occurred in a hospital setting while one occurred in the community.

The DoH also recorded 281 new infections taking the total number of cases over the last seven days and since the beginning of the pandemic to 1,384 and 111,932 respectively.

Northern Ireland also recorded its lowest number of inpatients with Covid-19 today.

The dashboard shows there are 341 inpatients in hospitals with Covid-19 - the last time it was lower than this was on Sunday October 25 with 317 inpatients.

There are currently 136 intensive care unit (ICU) beds in operation in Northern Ireland - 44 are occupied by patients with Covid-19; 61 are occupied by patients without Covid-19 and 31 are unoccupied.

Hospital bed capacity is at 97 per cent across Northern Ireland.
