Heartbreak as 36 year-old NHS nurse Areema Nasreen dies after contracting Coronavirus

There is widespread shock and sadness in the NHS throughout the United Kingdom this morning after it was confirmed nurse Areema Nasreen sadly lost her battle with Coronavirus COVID-19.

Mum of three, Areema Nasreen, passed away in the early hours of Friday in Walsall Manor Hospital.

Nurse Nasreen was on a ventilator and was being treated in an intensive care unit (ICU).

"The immediate family are devastated. Everyone is in shock this morning," said a relative.

"She was always so full of life. She was devoted to her job as a nurse, she absolutely loved it. She passed away doing what she loved.

"I'm really sad for the rest of the family, she was a fantastic person."

Nurse Nasreen was a staff nurse at Walsall Manor Hospital’s Acute Medical Unit.

A friend and colleague of Mrs. Nasreen posted a tribute to her on social media.

"High fly beautiful Areema .....such a lovely person inside and out....RIP my lovely....I will never forget the laughs we had together...my thoughts are with your family."

At the time of publication, 2,921 people across the UK had died after testing positive for COVID-19 - there have been 33,718 confirmed cases.
