NI man dies after testing positive for COVID-19 as second person fined after breaching quarantine - 61 new infections in last 24 hours

The PSNI has issued a second person in Northern Ireland with a fixed penalty notice of £1,000 after they were found to have been in breach of COVID-19 quarantine rules.

The individual was given a £1,000 fine on Friday, the Police Service of Northern Ireland said.

The news of the fine comes on the third consecutive day that Northern Ireland recorded additional COVID-19 related deaths.

The death recorded in the last 24 hours was that of a male aged between 60 and 79 from the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council area.

It takes the overall COVID-19 death toll in Northern Ireland to 564.

A total of 4,175 people were tested for COVID-19 in Northern Ireland in the last 24 hours - of that total 61 people tested positive.

The latest stats mean 439 people have tested positive for the virus in Northern Ireland in the last seven days.

The total number of people to test positive for COVID-19 in Northern Ireland since the beginning of the pandemice now stands at 7,503.

Interestingly, 63 per cent of people who tested positive for Coronavirus in the last seven days were all under the age of 40.
