NI records fewest number of people testing positive for COVID-19 in more than two months - zero deaths occurring in last 24 hours

Northern Ireland has recorded its lowest number of new COVID-19 infections in a 24 hour period for the first time since the middle of March.

In the last 24 hours, the Department of Health (DoH) reported an additional three confirmed cases of COVID-19.

One additional death was also recorded but it occurred outside of the last 24 hours on May 30.

The DoH death toll is now 536.

There were 10 COVID-19 patients occupying intensive care unit beds throughout Northern Ireland in the 24 period up to 10.00am on Friday morning.

The latest statistics comes less than 24 hours after the DoH reported the R-number (the average number of people infected by a patient who tests positive for COVID-19) in Northern Ireland as being between 0.7 and 0.9.
