NI sees lowest number of deaths in 24 hours since beginning of pandemic - 13 COVID-19 patients in ICU beds

The number of people who died after testing positive for COVID-19 in Northern Ireland is at its lowest since the beginning of the pandemic.

One patient died in a hospital after testing positive for the virus and an additional two deaths, which occurred outside of the last 24 hours, were also recorded.

The Department of Health now state that up to 10.00am on Friday May 22, a total of 504 people have died in Northern Ireland after testing positive for COVID-19.

The number of patients currently receiving treatment for COVID-19 in intensive care unit beds remains unchanged at 13.

A further 26 people tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours - this takes the total number of infected to 4,504.

The latest statistics reveal for every 100,000 people of the population in Northern Ireland 239 will test positive for the disease.
