Nine Covid-19 deaths recorded in last 24 hours, hospital bed capacity at 100% and 549 new infections

Nine more people have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 in Northern Ireland, according to the Department of Health.

Seven of the deaths occurred in the last 24 hours but the remaining two occurred outside of this time but were recorded for the first time in the 24 hours to 10am on Tuesday morning.

One of the individuals to sadly pass away was aged between 40 and 59; one was aged between 60 and 79 and the remaining seven to lose their lives were aged 80 or older.

The deaths occurred in the following local government districts: Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon; Lisburn and Castlereagh; Derry City and Strabane District Council; Causeway Coast and Glens and Mid Ulster.

Four of the people to pass away were hospital patients and the remaining five died in either a residential or a care home setting.

It takes the death-toll from the beginning of the pandemic to 878.

There are currently 25 unoccupied intensive care unit (ICU) beds throughout Northern Ireland however, hospital bed capacity is at 100 per cent.
