Out of the 692,300 vaccinations, about 634,000 were first doses.

This means that – out of a population of roughly 1.8 million – about 35% of the entire population in the Province have had at least an initial anti-Covid jab.

Meanwhile Tuesday is the second day in a row that one coronavirus death has been added to the official departmental death toll, taking the total to date to 2,100.

From the first fatality in mid-March 2020, Northern Ireland’s initial spike saw 19 deaths on April 22 during the first wave.

The numbers then dropped off to literally zero between July 13 and August 8 before rebounding again in the second wave.

That second wave peaked at 29 deaths on January 17, and has since fallen back.

Johns Hopkins University in the USA, one of the most prestigious medical centres in the world, lists just under 126,000 Covid fatalities across the UK througout the pandemic.

It lists the USA as being the worst affected country, with a death toll of 536,600, followed by Brazil (279,300) and Mexico (195,000). China, where the virus first appeared, is listed as having 4,839 deaths, but the truthfulness of its figures has been open to question.
