Top NI hospital runs out of ICU beds - eight Covid-19 related deaths recorded in last 24 hours

There have been eight additional Covid-19 related deaths recorded in Northern Ireland in the last 24 hours the Department of Health (DoH) has confirmed.

Seven of the deaths occurred in the last 24 hours and one did not but was officially recorded for the first time in the 24 hours to 10.00am on Monday November 2, 2020.

The eight deaths occurred in the following local government districts: Belfast City Council (two); Antrim and Newtownabbey (one); Derry and Strabane District Council (two); Mid-Ulster (two) and Unknown (one).

An additional 493 individuals tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

A total of 4,949 individuals have tested positive in the last seven days - this takes the grand total of infections since the beginning of the pandemic to 39,609.

There are currently 379 inpatients with Covid-19 throughout Northern Ireland.

Of the 120 intensive care unit beds in hospitals all over Northern Ireland, 52 are occupied by patients with Covid-19, 52 are occupied by patients with non-Covid-19 conditions and 16 are unoccupied.

Altnagelvin Area Hospital and the Ulster Hospital are both without a single unoccupied ICU bed.
