Two men and two women in Northern Ireland have died after testing positive for Covid-19.

Two of the deaths occurred in the last 24 hours while the remaining two occurred outside this time frame but were officially recorded in the last 24 hours.

The deaths occurred in the following four local government districts: Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon; Mid and East Antrim; Newry and Mourne and Fermanagh and Omagh.

One of the people to sadly pass away was aged between 60 and 79 and the remaining three people who died were all aged 80 or over.

These deaths take the Department of Health’s Covid-19 death-toll to 602.

The latest report from DoH also revealed how there are only 13 unoccupied intensive care unit beds available in all of Northern Ireland.

These beds are not just for the treatment of patients with Covid-19.

Ninety-eight per cent of all Northern Ireland’s intensive care unit beds are now occupied.

Four Covid-19 related deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours (two of these deaths occurred in the last 24 hours - the remaining two deaths occurred outside this time frame but were officially recorded for the first time within the last 24 hours).

Northern Ireland also broke its record for the greatest number of Covid-19 infections in a 24 period with 1,217 individuals testing positive.

It takes the total number of people in Northern Ireland to test positive for Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic to 23,115.

Remarkably, the 6,693 individuals to test positive for Covid-19 in Northern Ireland in the last seven days equates to 29 per cent of all positive infections since the beginning of the pandemic.
