First British person dies from coronavirus

The first person from the United Kingdom has died from the deadly Coronavirus.

The British man was a passenger on the Diamond Princess ship anchored off the coast of Japan.

The Japanese Foreign Ministry has confirmed the death of the British man.

The man is the sixth Diamond Princess passenger to have died as a result of the illness.

The Foreign Office has said it is investigating reports in Japanese media that a British citizen has died on board the ship.

The first case of the Coranvirus (COVID-19) was confirmed in Northern Ireland on Thursday.

There have been 19 confirmed cases of Coronavirus but no deaths in the UK or Ireland.

There are no further details at this time.
