Hospice services in Northern Ireland get £6.75m boost

A £6.75 million package to help support Northern Ireland hospice services through the coronavirus crisis has been announced by finance minister Conor Murphy.

Making the announcement, the minister praised the local hospices for the “truly inspiring” care and support they provide.

“Our hospices are there for people and their families when they need it most,” he said.

“This £6.75m support package will help them with the current challenges they are facing from loss of donations and revenue from their retail outlets. This funding will make a real difference to these organisations and the families they support.”

As part of the support deal, the NI Hospice and Children’s Hospice will receive £3.2m while Marie Curie gets £1.6m. The Southern Area Hospice has been awarded £1.1m, the Foyle Hospice £600,000 and the Cancer Fund for Children £250,000.
