District Master brings his five-month-old son wearing sash on Twelfth parade in Ballycastle

Bushmills District Master Wesley Craig brought his five-month-old son to experience his first Twelfth in Ballycastle this week.

It was just one example of the family friendly day enjoyed by the vast majority of participants and spectators on the north coast.

Sadly the parade attracted negative headlines after an altercation between a flute band and a man in a GAA top.

TUV Councillor Allister Kyle, who is a member of the same Bushmills lodge who had baby Will as their honorary member on the day, said that aside from the incident it was a great day out by the coast.

He said: “I’d hoped following the levels of tolerance shown elsewhere in the Province by members of the unionist community, towards members and supporters of the GAA that this would be reciprocated. However, I’m disappointed to hear that during our return parade, someone adorning in a GAA top tried to split ranks within Moyargret Silver Plains band in an attempt to raise tensions.”
