Conor McColgan had his head shaved to raise funds for the Cottage Care Home in Coleraine.

Conor said: “I organised this fundraiser because all the staff in the Cottage are very good at keeping all the residents safe especially my granny Sally. My auntie Louise works there and I just wanted to try and help out because this is very serious what we are all going through.

“I’m raising the money to give to the Cottage so they can purchase any essentials that they need like shower gel, toothpaste and deodorant because the residents’ relatives can’t visit to bring these items in. It’s also for anything the staff might need like gloves or masks, if they run out.

We’re going get them some cupcakes this week hopefully. Mum and her friend are going to organise a function for everyone when this is all over so she can say thank you in a happy, social setting and everyone can relax and enjoy themselves after all this stress and sadness.

“I think the response I got was absolutely amazing and I’m so thankful to everyone who donated. I’m very happy with how much I raised, £735 myself, and donations are still coming in!”

Conor’s mum Cathy has also been fundraising for the Cottage and - to date - has raised £2,690 (including Conor’s contribution). Conway Group Healthcare which runs The Cottage thanked the McColgans for their fundraising.
