Alderman Fielding said: “Like many other charities, Macmillan’s fundraising opportunities have been greatly curtailed this year, so I’m glad to say that locally we have been able to make a positive difference by raising a total of £2,220 within Causeway Coast and Glens.

“I would like to thank everyone who got behind this event as all the money raised will help to ensure that Macmillan can continue to provide its vital cancer support services.”

Catherine added: “We would usually be busy thinking about ways to bring people together with friends and family members to enjoy the social benefits of coffee and a chat, but of course this year was very different. However, we wanted to do as much as we could to raise money, with Covid restrictions in place. “To say that I was astonished by the amount raised would be an understatement. We can’t thank people in Causeway Coast and Glens enough for their generosity.

“In my role as Move More Coordinator, I support people living with cancer every day and know only too well the impact that a cancer diagnosis can have on people’s lives. People’s anxieties and concerns have increased during the pandemic - we know that our fundraising will support Macmillan to provide the vital help that people living with cancer rely on.”

Physical activity is safe during and after most types of cancer treatment, can help reduce side effects of treatment and reduce the risk of cancer spreading or returning.
