PCSP online theatre project for pupils

Causeway Coast and Glens Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) is highlighting the danger of risky behaviour with an educational play delivered online to secondary school pupils.

‘Last Orders’ is based on true events and aims to make young people aware of the physical, mental and emotional impact of cyber safety, alcohol, and risk taking behaviour.

Written in a hard-hitting yet humorous style, the play has been delivered remotely to secondary schools across the Borough by Solomon Theatre Company, with each online performance followed by an interactive workshop between facilitators, teachers and school pupils.

Chair of Causeway Coast and Glens Policing and Community Safety Partnership, Oliver McMullan said: “2020 has been a difficult year for us all, not least, young people who have had major interruptions to their school life and social opportunities.

“Despite these challenges, the PCSP remains committed to educating young people about the dangers they may face and supporting them to make positive choices.

“The interactive workshops include the cast of the play in character to allow students to effectively explore the vital issues of cyber safety, illegal purchase and attitudes to risk.”

“We are delighted at the level of interest from our local schools who have taken up the opportunity to participate in an online version of the roadshow.”

Developed by a team of doctors, NSPCC professionals and teachers, “Last Orders” is a professional and specialist theatre company production telling the story of three teenagers embarking on an alcohol fuelled night out and exploring the disastrous consequences.
