Peter gives lifetime of service to retailer McDonaghs

Peter Hagan has brought an amazing 55 year career at Portadown retailer TW McDonagh Ltd (formerly McDonagh Furniture) to a close.

Having worked in nearly every department, and now touching on 71 years of age, Peter celebrated his retirement recently with a barbecue and presentation from the firm.

He worked on the bench making pieces, in the polish shop, drove lorries for a long spell, managed the fitting department and managed the stores. He helped with photography and set building, setting up exhibitions in Scotland and England and was excellent with customers, collecting them from the airport and looking after them. Quite a remarkable variety of work.

Director Terry McDonagh said: “Peter and I installed the meeting table for the G8 summit in Enniskillen. That table now sits in the Thatcher Room, 10 Downing Street and was shown in a recent photo of Boris Johnston with his new baby.”
