YFC’s Across the Hedgerow project
A new initiative called ‘Across the Hedgerow’ has been launched by Rural Support Cookstown in collaboration with the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster (YFCU).
It will provide older, vulnerable and/or isolated members of the farming community with listening support and companionship via telephone calls with a view to reducing fear and improving mental and emotional wellbeing.
Veronica Morris, chief executive of Rural Support, said: “The ‘Across the Hedgerow’ project, in collaboration with the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster, will provide our most vulnerable people with extra human connection on a regular basis, via the phone, to help lift their spirits and bring some happiness during this uncertain time.”
