71 confirmed outbreaks of COVID-19 in NI care homes, say Department of Health

The Department of Health dashboard reveals there are now 71 confirmed Covid-19 outbreaks in NI care homes.

They add that there is a further 33 suspected care home outbreaks across NI.

An outbreak is confirmed where at least two residents or staff have had a positive Covid-19 test in the last 14 days.

Today’s dashboard also states there has been more than 48,931 tests carried out in Northern Ireland.

And a total of 4,401 people have tested positive for Covid-19 - that’s a further 16 new cases confirmed on Monday

According to today’s figures there are now 17 patients with suspected or confirmed cases of Covid-19 currently in ICU - but there are 40 ICU beds available.
