84 jobs created at Edendork Engineering firm

EDENDORK engineering firm EDGE Innovate is to create 84 new jobs in a £3.4 million expansion plan.

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster announced the news on Thursday after visiting the factory along accompanied by Invest Northern Ireland Representatives.

EDGE specialise in the design, manufacture and export of innovative and high quality machinery used within recycling, materials handling and quarrying industries.

The factory’s equipment can be found anywhere from Mongolia to Northern Canada and is currently being used in the national clean-up of America’s East Coast in the wake of Hurricane Sandy that hit late 2012.

It’s team include a strong global sales network of over 60 representatives.

Speaking about the news, Niall McKiver, Jim McKiver and Darragh Cullen, EDGE founders and directors, said the company were set to create positions ranging from skilled operators to sales and marketing personnel.

“We had a clear sales strategy from the start and that was to export” said Managing Director, Darragh Cullen.

“We have built a fantastic team at EDGE and everyone from the shop floor to the board room is proud that our brand name is now firmly established on the global platform.

“With further investment we plan to build on our current success by investing in product development, R+D, new facilities and developing further our Drive to expand our export Sales and Marketing functions”.

Thursday’s announcement formalised Invest NI’s support for the expansion plans.

“The firms focus on export marketing and new product development will help to enhance its position within the global market place and achieve the sizable export sales it has forecast over the medium term”

The Minister concluded: “Global Export is critical to the long term success of the Northern Ireland economy. I am delighted that Edge Innovate has taken the courageous decision to focus on Global product Sales and distribution.

“I would like to commend and congratulate Darragh, Jim and Niall as well as the entire Edge team on their hard work, drive and determination to succeed.”
