A historic cross-community ecumenical Ash Wednesday service has been held in Belfast City Centre church

The service was held at St Mary’s Catholic Church on Chapel Lane in Belfast City Centre.

Former Presbyterian Moderator The Very Rev Dr Ken Newell spoke at the service which was led by Fr Tim Bartlett who were joined by Rev Elizabeth Hanna, a retired Church of Ireland minister, and Rev Robin Waugh, minister of the Methodist Church in Sydenham along with Fr Martin Magill.
