The Mayor of Ballymoney, Alderman Bill Kennedy, has launched an appeal fund for the family of an eight-year-old schoolboy who died after a road accident in Cloughmills last week.

Adam Gilmour died after being hit by a car as he walked to catch a bus to school with his mother and siblings.

Donations to the appeal should be lodged to the “Gilmour Family Appeal Fund” at Bank of Ireland, The Diamond, Coleraine. Account No. 90-48-00 -7528 5899.

Mayor Kennedy said: “What happened to Sarah Hanna and her young family that morning is distressing and has pulled at the heartstrings of the community. People here have a reputation for good neighbourliness and there is a lot of sympathy and concern.”
