Another strong entry of quality cattle at Swatragh

Cattle: Another strong entry of quality cattle on Monday 29th February sold to a very sharp trade with some exceptional prices, more quality stock is required to meet demand.

Heifers selling to £635 for 334kg with bullocks selling to £900 for 450kgs.

Bullocks: Swatragh producer 450kg, £900; Garvagh producer 284kg,£520; 310kg, £580; 272kg, £595; 286kg, £420; 282kg, £595; 278kg, £590.

Sheep: A very strong entry of 885 sheep at Swatragh on Saturday 27th February witnessed a good solid lamb trade. Several pens of heavy lambs sold well in excess of £90.00 each to a top rate of £92.00.

Middleweight lambs sold to £83.80 for 21.7kg while store lambs sold to £71.50 for 17.75kg. Ewes sold to £90.00, ewes and lambs sold to £182.00 while springers sold to £106.

Middleweight lambs: Ballymena producer 14 lambs 21.7kg at 83.80 = 386p; Limavady producer 2 lambs 22kg at 80.50 = 366p; Limavady producer 4 lambs 22.5kg at 79.00 = 351p.

Store lambs: Swatragh producer 3 lambs 17.75kg at 71.50 = 403p; Cullybackey producer 11 lambs 17kg at 65.00 = 382p.

Ewes: Magherafelt producer 1 Texel at 90.00; Coleraine producer 1 Texel at 88.00.
