Another strong entry of quality cattle at Swatragh

Cattle: Another strong entry of quality cattle on Monday 22nd February sold to a very sharp trade with some exceptional prices, more quality stock is required to meet demand.

Heifers selling to £500 for 300kg with Bullocks selling to £720 for 320kgs.

Bullocks: Swatragh producer 320kg, £720; Swatragh producer 294kg,£675; 266kg, £610.

Sheep: A very strong entry of 785 sheep at Swatragh on Saturday 20th February witnessed a good solid lamb trade. Several pens of heavy lambs sold well in excess of £92.00 each to a top rate of £93.80, middleweight lambs sold to £88.00 for 23kg, ewes sold to £83.00, ewes and lambs sold to £180.00 while breeders sold to £104.

Middleweight lambs: Kilaloo producer 12 lambs 23kg at 88.00 = 383p; Claudy producer 1 lamb 22kg at 82.00 = 373p; Cookstown producer 3 lambs 22.5kg at 80.00 = 356p; Dungiven producer 5 lambs 23.75kg at 80.00 = 337p.

Ewes: Maghera producer 1 Texel at 83.00; Claudy producer 1 Texel at 82.00.
