Another strong entry of quality cattle at Swatragh

Cattle: Another strong entry of quality cattle on Monday 15th February sold to a very sharp trade with some exceptional prices, more quality stock required to meet demand.

Heifers selling to £810 for 410kg with bullocks selling to £710 for 310kgs.

Bullocks: Kilrea producer 310kg, £710; Swatragh producer 300kg, £675; 270kg, £610; Maghera producer 258kg, £565, 308kg, £600; 218kg,£400; 292kg, £500; 256kg, £540; 290kg, £625; 276kg, £500; Limavady producer (all Friesian) 482kg, £600; 436kg, £550; 556kg, £735.

Sheep: A very strong entry of 985 sheep at Swatragh on Saturday 13th February witnessed a good solid lamb trade. Several pens of heavy lambs sold well in excess of £88.50 each to a top rate of £92.00, middleweight lambs sold to £78.00 for 21kg while store lambs were strong and sold to £64.00 for 16kg, ewes sold to £85.00 while ewes and lambs sold to £175.00.

Middleweight lambs: Garvagh producer 16 lambs 21kg at 78.00 = 371p; Rasharkin producer 6 lambs 23.5kg at 84.50 = 360p; Limavady producer 3 lambs 21.25kg at 76.00 = 358p; Draperstown producer 6 lambs 23.75kg at 80.00 = 337p.
