The ambulance service attended the Coast Road house at Ballygally near Larne on Sunday evening and felt it necessary to call the Fire Service at around 8.45pm. The Fire Service said firefighters from Larne and Carnlough Fire Stations attended to take carbon monoxide readings from the premises. “All readings taken returned zero detection of Carbon Monoxide,” a spokeswoman said. “Several people at the scene were checked by NI Ambulance personnel. The scene was handed over to PSNI as tragically a man had died at the scene.” Work had been done to a boiler before they arrived, she added.

The PSNI said there was a lone male in the property who was deceased. The Health and Safety Executive has been tasked to investigate suggestions of Carbon Monoxide. A post mortem is to be carried out, but the death is not being treated as suspicious, she added.
